Duties

Help
  • Coordinate with higher echelons, Army-educational activities, other government agencies, civilian education institutions, and industrial firms to meet identified training needs.
  • Manage the academic tracking for six training companies consisting of approximately 5,000 students annually.
  • Oversee all testing procedures within the program of instruction (POI) including both cognitive and psychomotor evaluations for all Active Duty, National Guard and US Army Reserve components.
  • Directly responsible for the development of all cognitive testing material within the program.
  • Review and approve all examination material ensuring that the content is within standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) objectives for EMT and within standards of instructional material.

  • Must possess and maintain National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. (Note: You must attach your certification to your application package.)

Basic Requirements Supervisory Training Specialist (Combat Medic) GS-1712-11:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience is described as developing and managing cognitive and psychomotor testing materials, applying academic policies, and maintaining accurate student and course data for large training populations. Demonstrated ability to oversee testing operations, ensure compliance with EMT, TC3, and 68W POI standards, and coordinate with internal and external agencies. Skilled in supervising staff, issuing guidance, evaluating performance, and maintaining accountability of medical and non-medical equipment to support training program effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Health Professions Education.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
