Duties include but are not limited to:

Data Collection and Analysis
The employee plans and conducts comprehensive analytical studies of the Medical Service administrative processes and procedures to measure effectiveness and efficiency. Conducts data validation studies to ensure that accurate data are entered and collected correctly and timely by Medical Service personnel regarding inpatient and outpatient activities. The employee plans and conducts comprehensive analytical studies of the Medical Service subspecialties' data such as: appointment delays, expenditures, productivity, and other data to measure effectiveness and efficiency of the Service.

Technical Computer Support
As the Medical Service ADPAC, attends required meetings and works closely with Office of Information and Technology (Region 2) (Ol&T) and the Health Informatics' Clinical Applications Coordinators (CAC). ADPAC coordinates requests for VA remote access for all of the Medical Service employees; develops training guidelines and materials; troubleshoots hardware and software errors computer related issues and problems for Medical Service employees' needs; reports unresolved software errors to Ol&T; and coordinates and implements Medical Service packages. Attends ADPAC Committee meetings.

Technical Computer Support
Resident and Medical Student Coordinator. Provides initial computer access and CPRS training to residents rotating through Medical Service. Trains medical interns, residents, fellows, medical students, staff physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and all Medical Service personnel on all relevant computer applications. Works closely with the CPRS implementation team to provide training materials and classes on new functionalities. Designs and develops the annual Housestaff Manual.

Technical Computer Support
Surveys Medical Service staff members to determine what additional ADP resources are needed. Tests new versions of computer software. Analyzes Medical Service functional areas to identify practical automated data processing (ADP) applicability. Reviews and analyzes existing ADP functions in Medical Service areas to determine relevancy and currency of information processes. Works closely with OI& T and CAC: reviews and/or recommends changes to new or existing ADP programs. Evaluates circumstances where operational procedures are needed or Vista packages need revision. Implements/installs new releases or updates periodically; reviews and tests the software in the test account.

Program Support
Attends committee meetings in place of Administrative Officer as requested. In addition, incumbent serves as liaison between the Service and ACOS Education. Incumbent is a member of the Education Committee that oversees the Residency Program. Prepares and delivers oral presentations such as briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with Medical Service staff to resolve controversial matters and convey information and to propose changes. Develops and prepares a variety of correspondence and other documentation, i.e., formal letters, papers, reports, studies, briefings, charts, etc. Assists Administrative Officer in such duties as updating policy and procedure manuals, collecting statistical data, maintenance of workload records, and other related duties. PIV sponsor and manager for Medical Service. Talent Management System Administrator for Medical Service.



Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/01/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.


You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: CUSTOMER SERVICE: Liaison for service and participates in the resolution of interdepartmental problems, complaints, and grievances.; TECHNICAL COMPETENCE: Performs database administration and management, and implements decision support services. ; and TECHNOLOGY AWARENESS: Responsibility for the maintenance of equipment and facilities, and knowledge of technologies and their applications as it relates to business processes of information systems to meet organizational requirements. . OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). OR,
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 1 year of graduate education.
