Summary

This ND National Guard position is for a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF), Position Description Number T0029P01 and is part of the ND G1, National Guard.
The primary purpose of this position is to implement and support integrated prevention programs. It collaboratively identifies, implements, and assesses public health-informed and evidence-based prevention policy, practices, programs and processes. Supports healthy climate/culture to eliminate harassment, sexual violence, family violence and self-directed harm using a public health perspective and socio-ecological theoretical lens. This involves an integrated, multi-agency, and collaborative approach with other Regions, Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), and local programs with a nexus to integrated primary prevention (IPP) efforts.
Serves as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the Region IPP program.
Supports inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the regional leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups.
Represents their population's integrated prevention efforts as a member of leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups.
Serves as the Region liaison for local military and civilian agencies to promote timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships.
Responsible for developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within the Region.
Advises leadership in communicating prevention plans and programs to subordinate units.
Recruits, trains, and facilitates military volunteers for prevention activity implementation.
Provides technical oversight to service members (M-Day) within the Region who are assigned to perform integrated prevention activities at the Unit level.
Conducts trainings around prevention activities, processes, and planning.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 security clearance level.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day, to include some weekend work.
May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver’s license is mandatory.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved by TAG.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. Applicants must possess one of the following basic requirements:
A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Combination of education and experience that provided the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field (e.g. counseling, psychology, etc.). The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Applicants may meet minimum qualification requirements through experience equivalent to a 4-year degree.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialize experience includes:1) Experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; 2) Preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; 3) Evaluating objectives and developing plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources; and 4) Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.
