About the Position:
Serves as Barracks Facility Manager, responsible for the accomplishment of a broad management of functions associated with the operation and utilization of housing for servicemembers.

Duties

Help
  • Conducts inspections of facilities to visually observe the quality and levels of repair related to facilities at the installation.
  • Maintains constant contact with stakeholders and others ensuring proper placement of individuals.
  • Monitors requirements for furnishings and equipment authorized.
  • Monitors utilization of facilities to account for and control government assets for management operation.
  • Serves as the liaison by providing supporting communication and coordination between the units or resident for unaccompanied housing facilities.
  • Participates in meetings, briefings, orientations and other settings as a representative for housing on unaccompanied housing matters.
  • Submits service orders to the the service department for maintenance or repairs on unaccompanied housing f facilities.
  • Maintains administrative record keeping requirements.
  • Makes recommendations based on review of annual and long-range plans, manning requirements and projections.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Individual Occupational Requirements

Degree: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: Possess experience less than one year and at least two years of graduate education but less than the required three years.

AND

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes: 1) Participating in the management of housing for enlisted personnel; AND 2) Implementing housing policies and procedures to identify project deficiencies; AND 3) Utilizing funding policies; AND 4) Making assignments by defining program objectives and priorities.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

A retired member of the Armed Forces may not be appointed to a civilian position in DoD (including a non-appropriated fund position) within 180 days after retirement ** unless the following conditions have been met: the Secretary concerned authorizes the appointment; or the position is authorized special pay under 5 U.S.C. 5305; or a state of national emergency exists].

  • Employees who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
  • Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.

  • The initial length of this overseas tour is 12 months.
