Duties

As an IT Specialist (INET), GS-2210-11, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Serve as the web developer/webmaster for Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute.
  • Provide guidance on the most appropriate methods for delivering information via the Internet and for optimization of workstation for web page development.
  • Trouble-shoot internet network access anomalies and coordinates with members of IT staff to resolve Internet problems.
  • Develop and maintains a proactive plan for current and future Internet presence based on promotional, presentation, and information of the College's academic, programs, and operational needs, objectives and goals.
  • Ensure website meets all regulatory and operational security requirements.
  • Assist users in resolving technical computer problems and malfunctions and provide customer and network account support.

Qualifications

Basic Individual Occupational Requirement GS-11 Grade Level: This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.

Graduate Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. (Note: If using education to qualify transcripts are required.)
OR
Experience: Experience must include IT-related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies:

  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
AND
Specialized Experience: You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Serving as a web developer or webmaster for an organization; providing guidance on effective methods for delivering information via the Internet and optimizing workstations for web page development; troubleshooting web server or network access issues and coordinating with IT staff and hosting providers to resolve website access and content-loading problems; developing and maintaining a proactive plan for the organization's current and future Internet presence aligned with promotional, informational, and operational needs; and delivering virtual and in-person training to content providers on website posting standards and procedures.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required unless using education to meet the basic individual occupational requirement.

Additional information

Initial appointments to the competitive or excepted service: The probationary or trial period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider:
