You will serve as a NON-MEDICAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR (SPIRIC) in the of NB CORONADOCommander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Department of the Navy (DON).
Current or former DCIPS Interchange Agreement eligibles, DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Preference eligibles and DoD Retained Grade Preference eligibles, and VEOA eligibles.
You will develop short-term solution to focus on the psychological and counseling needs of the clients in crisis situations.
You will provide immediate and ongoing support to individuals, couples, families, and groups impacted by suicide-related events, and facilitate group and individual interventions to promote coping, resilience, and recovery.
You will coordinate with legal, medical and social services including commands, to assist in counseling and referrals, as needed.
You will collect bio-psychosocial information from clients of various cultural backgrounds using interviews and assess their bio-psychosocial needs to recognize and diagnose problems related to psychosocial, personal and environmental issues.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of GS-11 experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experiencing in provide direct services in the form of non-medical clinical counseling, with an emphasis on supporting individuals affected by suicide-related behaviors, as well as those experiencing grief and loss, including loss by suicide;
Experiencing in counseling individuals, couples, families, and groups on matters pertaining to family dynamics, couples' communication, adjustment to commonly occurring personal and family issues/circumstances, adjustment to military life, and psycho-educational training programs;
Experiencing in develop and execute short-term, solution-focused non-medical clinical counseling treatment plans for those individuals with commonly occurring life circumstance issues or adjustment disorders;
Experiencing in provide immediate and ongoing support to individuals, couples, families, and groups impacted by suicide-related events, and facilitate group and individual interventions to promote coping, resilience, and recovery.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
Applicants for the 0185 Social Work Series must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.
