About the Position: Incumbent will serve as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) responsible for managing the Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS) within the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) on a military installation at Fort Campbell, KY. Responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance and expansion of the UMCS system to develop and/or revise technical documents applicable to the UMCS, and to perform design and related studies/surveys.

Responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance and expansion of the UMCS system to develop and/or revise technical documents applicable to the UMCS, and to perform design and related studies/surveys.
Performs building level equipment and system diagnostic audits to maximize efficiencies and to improve maintenance trends.
Provides technical expertise in the area of HVAC control and commissioning
Conducts various task related to the installation’s Utility Monitoring and Control System (FC-UMCS) such as building set-backs, unoccupied status and other energy savings measures and techniques.
Provides program management support for the installation’s Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) account record, cyber security requirements and Authority to Operate package submissions
Provides technical support to the design team for preparation of plans and specifications for contract work.
Performs facility and energy related audits and provides support to program and integrate controls replacement.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires a valid state driver's license.
Required to observe established safe working procedures; and, wear appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions.
A Tier 1 non-sensitive background is required throughout this appointment.
Required to complete programing platform training such as Tridium Controls Systems - Niagara Framework Technical Certification within 6 months of entering position
Requires TDY of up to 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes the following 1)Installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating moderately complex electronic industrial controls for mechanisms found in boiler combustion control systems, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and building automation systems (Direct Digital Controls DDC) and/or 2) Utilizing various programs such as Direct Digital Control System (DDC), Metering Data, Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) or Utility Monitoring Control Systems and/or 3) Assisting in the development and preparation of design concepts, design studies, maintenance and repair of refrigeration, HVAC, HVAC controls, plumbing, electrical, and exhaust.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
