Performs maintenance and repair work on floating plant and land plant (i.e., diesel engines, cranes, compressors, electric motors, winches, hoisting and rigging equipment, etc.)
Inspects and troubleshoots equipment, (i.e. renews brake linings and bands, repairs and adjusts friction on winches, replaces worn or defective pins or bushings on rigging equipment, etc.)
Assists in the repair of diesel marine engines and ancillary equipment.
Cuts and threads pipe, makes fittings, operates lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws and pipe threading machine. Perform miscellaneous steel and woodwork, cut and fit material to specifications and make necessary connections.
Performs maintenance and repairs on all building and grounds at Caven Point and shop equipment (i.e., offices, warehouses, HVAC systems, boilers, roofs, berths, plumbing, lighting, band saws, table saws, roadways and fences etc.
Performs maintenance on vessels under 65 feet in accordance with the Maintenance Management Plan.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
