About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and child care available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Help
  • Planning. Provide direct input and participate in meetings and conferences with engineering, production control, and other personnel involving the initial analysis of long-range work requirements
  • Assign and explain work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and set deadlines and establish the sequence of work operations to be followed.
  • Develop and establish internal procedures (e.g., meetings, content, and timing of reports) to be followed by subordinate supervisors to assure effective control and direction of work activities, organizations, and personnel supervised.
  • Applies (EEO) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination.
  • Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel, TDY may be required up to 5% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory and a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary promotion may be made permanent or extended up to a maximum of five years.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made permanent or extended at management discretion.
  • Temporary appointments may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler Supervisor tasks including 1) Coordinate daily assignment of personnel, equipment with established workload schedules. 2) Direct warehousing tasks for materials-handling teams to maintain accurate inventory placement and meet required turnaround times. 3) Monitor workflow progress to identify delays and keep material movement on pace with operational deadlines. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
