Duties

Help
  • Perform all phases of installation, alteration, and repair to electrical wiring, fixtures, equipment, and facilities.
  • Plan and lay out work according to rough sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
  • Assure that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed in all assignments.
  • Drive a utility truck or similar vehicle to and from the work site in order to transport self, supplies, tools, and other personnel.
  • Perform grounding electrode system installation and repair usually consisting of primary grounding electrodes and secondary electrodes in accordance with the NEC.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent will drive a utility truck or similar vehicle to and from the work site in order to transport self, supplies and other employees.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state drivers license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
  • Employee is subject to be called back to work during non-duty hours to respond to emergencies and make repairs. Employee will have his/her name on a call out roster and will provide their phone number for the roster.
  • Assures that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and any subsequent annual physical.
  • Mission Essential: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends.
  • Mandatory overtime, irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends; subject to recall to duty. Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
  • This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) of 10%.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrical Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Splicing cable, stringing lights and power wires, and make electrical connections.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Work assignments involve standing, climbing, bending, crouching, and occasionally working in cramped and awkward positions. Works at ground level and from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, manlifts, bucket trucks, and aerial truck lifts where parts of systems worked on are in hard to reach places. Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, employee lifts or moves with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Employee may works on different shift schedules. Work is performed both in and out of doors where there is regular exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, and bad weather. There is also exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, electrical shock, and burns. Protective devices such as but not limited to earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn.
