The Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), Office of Fleet Management, Leasing Support Division Fleet, Maintenance and Accident Management Branch (QMDFA) provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of GSA's fleet management programs for the federal government.

As an Accident Management Center (AMC) Team Lead, you will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Serve as a team leader for a group of subordinate transportation operations specialists and/or support personnel. Provides leadership in overseeing on-site activities and subordinate associates.
  • Coordinate crash and accident reporting, commercial repairs, and resolution of third-party claims involving GSA fleet vehicles. Provides support to FAS customers through a national accident reporting and control system.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the AMC operations, with emphasis on the quality and timeliness of support provided through a nationwide reporting system and optimal efficiencies in the collision repair area.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for the AMC function and exercises independent judgment to provide and gather factual and procedural information and data; answers questions from Fleet personnel, customers, and vendors; identifies problem area/customer complaints and monitors and coordinates the processing of accident reports and third-party claims.
  • Review commercial shop estimates to determine the cost effectiveness of the work proposed to be performed. Ensures that all repair estimates from GSA vendors are in accordance with industry standards. Compares commercial shop estimates cost required to return vehicle to operating condition and authorizes repairs up to the authorized procurement level. Negotiates best prices with open market vendors for vehicle repair services and supplies.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $89,508 per year.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the federal service.

Specialized experience is:

  • providing technical advice to fleet customers for fleet management services and contracting issues;
  • coordinating the repair of fleet vehicles that have been damaged as a result of an accident;
  • maintaining data in an automated logistics or a fleet management system; and
  • analyzing fleet and/or accident management operations to develop recommendations for improvement to a fleet management program.

Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - accounting, business adminstration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.

A panel of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will review the resumes of qualified candidates and assign a score for each of the five required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) based on the experience documented in the resume and narrative responses.

  1. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse range of individuals and lead a group of employees toward accomplishing team goals.
  2. Knowledge of Fleet automated data systems to perform a wide variety of work assignments involving the maintenance, input and verification of vehicle accident reports, third-party liability, vendor assignment and other program related data, and to prepare required reports and program analyses.
  3. Knowledge of the qualitative and quantitative techniques required to analyze and measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the Accident Management Center (AMC) operations.
  4. Knowledge of contract terminology and contracting procedures to determine if the terms and conditions of contracts are being met.
  5. Knowledge of the characteristics, operation, installation and repair of motor vehicles required to evaluate the actions required to repair a collision or accident-damaged vehicle.
