Duties

Help

This position is located in the S-4 section of Brigade/Group/Troop Command. The purpose of this position is to function as the Senior Logistics NCO of the organization responsible for oversight and execution of logistics plans, activities, and actions.

1. As the subject matter expert for logistics, develops, implements and evaluates the logistic goals and priorities for the organization. Advises the command in the area of logistics operations. Oversees and reviews unit level feeder reports. Analyzes and/or prepares the logistics and equipment readiness areas of the organizational readiness report. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations relative to proposed Modified Table of Organization and Equipment/Table of Distribution and Allowances (MTOE/TDA) and/or force structure changes to determine the impact on equipment authorizations. Remains current on and ensures the implementation of policy statements, regulations and directives. Provides guidance and assistance to ensure command programs have been implemented and evaluates their effectiveness in subordinate elements. Plans for the establishment and operation of the Administrative and Logistics Operations Center (ALOC). Develops and implements tactical standard operating procedures for logistics.

2. Ensures compliance with the command supply discipline program, command maintenance discipline program, and other directed command inspection programs. Assists in the preparation for and executes additional command level inspections in the area of logistics and maintenance. Works in conjunction with the Property Book Officer (PBO) to advise the S-4 and commander of equpment on hand and equipment readiness issues. Directs the maintenance priority of support to unit equipment. Coordinates and ensures the completion of change of command inventories and applicable adjustment documents. Directs, reviews, and makes recommendations on investigations of incidents involving property loss or damage. Manages Financial Liability Investigations of Property Loss (FLIPL), Cash Collections, and Statements of Charges for property loss or damage for the organization.

3. Provides guidance and management for all decentralized logistic funds. These may include secondary stock funds, office supply accounts, transportation funding, and various classes of supply. May serve as the approving official for government purchase card expenditures.

4. Provides technical guidance and assistance to all organizational logistic personnel pertaining to the accountability of all property assigned to the organization. May provide supervision to full time personnel in the S-4 section in the absence of the logistics officer. Directs the work of lower graded employees.

5. May be required to represent the National Guard and the unit Commander in the community. Provides logistical support for community activities such as parades, celebrations, military funerals, etc. Coordinates with civic officials, club officers and school officials for such things as recruiting activities, communities support projects, natural disaster or civil disturbance planning, use of facilities for training for such things as recruiting for such things as recruiting and security of those facilities.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS:
Enlisted: 92 series, 68 series

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-07). Experience in planning, coordinating, and evaluating logistics management operations in support of organizational missions. Experience must demonstrate the ability to advise leadership on logistics operations; analyze equipment readiness and supply status; coordinate supply and maintenance programs; manage property accountability and supply discipline programs; interpret and apply supply regulations and policies; and utilize automated logistics systems to track, analyze, and report logistical data.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, the following education is required to qualify for position:

  • master's or equivalent graduate degree or
  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or
  • LL.B. or J.D., if related

  1. Knowledge of logistics and maintenance requirements sufficient to plan, coordinate, and evaluate logistics operations in support of organizational missions. Ability to advise leadership on logistics programs, policies, and procedures to sustain and improve organizational readiness.
  2. Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, and property accountability procedures sufficient to manage and oversee organizational supply discipline programs, monitor logistical transactions, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  3. Knowledge of logistical readiness factors, including equipment availability, serviceability, and authorization requirements (MTOE/TDA), sufficient to analyze readiness data and provide recommendations to leadership on sustaining operational capability.
  4. Skill in using automated logistics systems and databases to retrieve, analyze, and interpret logistical data; identify trends or discrepancies; and develop reports or recommendations to support decision-making and mission readiness.
  5. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate logistics support for training and operational requirements; communicate effectively with leadership and stakeholders; and provide guidance or recommendations to resolve logistical issues and improve organizational readiness.
