Duties

Help
  • You will provide technical leadership and expertise to the Operations branch, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of IT systems and networks.
  • You will develop and implement strategic plans, policies and procedures to align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • You will collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and prioritize IT needs and requirements.
  • You will manage budgets, resources, and personnel to ensure optimal user of IT assets and resources.
  • You will ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures and standards, as well as relevant law and regulations.
  • You will represent the IT branch in department-wide meetings and workgroups, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • You will lead teams on multiple projects, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and collaboration among team members.
  • You will analyze complex issues and determine the best course of action, providing technical expertise and guidance to IT staff and stakeholders.
  • You will build coalitions within the Division, as well as across the Warfare Center and NAVSEA Enterprise, to support IT operations and achieve organizational goals and objectives.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (801), proficiency level (Advanced) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12) dealing with the following: evaluating network infrastructure, service delivery, and providing technical input to service providers; technical expertise and leadership in one or more of the following IT areas: Windows Domain, Linux administration, Cloud, networking infrastructure, WAN connections, and remote site VPNs; shared services and cloud based architectures, high performance computing and big data analytics platforms.

Additional information

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
