Duties

Help
  • Prepare board packets for inmate disposition boards (covering inmate requests for sentence relief).
  • Conduct interviews with inmates on the process of preparing for disposition boards and advise inmates on eligibility for Restoration/Return to Duty and Clemency requests.
  • Review board packet records and ensures completeness and proper forwarding of records to applicable military service boards (Army, Navy and Air Force).
  • Provide official final disposition board decision to the inmates.
  • Coordinate with applicable personnel (Case Managers and Case Management Coordinators) regarding Federal Bureau of Prison military inmate disposition board actions.
  • Responsible for oversight of operational board procedures, management and efficiency.
  • Research requests for current and/or former military inmate Correctional Treatment File historical and legal documents.
  • Operate a multitude of office equipment for the efficient digitization of individual inmate records.
  • Use basic and advanced program functions to perform operations such as updating, revising, sorting, calculating and manipulating data, and searching for and retrieving data to meet multiple report formats.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
  • This position requires the employee to undergo testing for tuberculosis prior to entry on duty and annually thereafter.
  • The incumbent will comply with the strict provisions as established by ACC policy and local facility/activity policy on staff standards of conduct.
  • his position requires the employee to complete the ACC Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff /inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
  • All ACC employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
  • All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
  • IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle.
  • Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
  • Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.07 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) business travel may be required approximately 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) preparing inmate board packets for board actions such as parole, clemency or reclassification boards, (2) scheduling inmate review boards, and (3) preparing correspondences, reports and written recordings of various boards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

*All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.

IAW 28 C.R.R. Part 115, Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, who: has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution (as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997); has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
