Duties

Help
  • Performs repair work on a variety of gas powered equipment utilized in the daily operations and maintenance of the campground. Performs minor engine repairs by cleaning, adjusting, and/or replacing defective parts.
  • Performs minor repairs on hydrostatic drive systems to include service, testing and adjusting as required. Determines requirements and orders necessary parts, tools, and other repair equipment through supervisor.
  • Performs preventive and routine maintenance with schedules as established by supervisor. Keeps accurate records of all preventive and routine maintenance and repair work accomplished. Maintains parts accountability records for all repair parts.
  • Maintains shop area clean, and may be required to operate specialized maintenance equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to inclement weather, heat, cold, and dirty conditions.
  • Must be 18 years of age by appointment date to meet state requirements.
  • Driver's license is required to to operate any government vehicle to include UTVs/ATVs.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This is a mixed job, designed specifically for smaller NAF activities that required flexibility in employee work. May be assigned to other activities based on mission requirements.
  • Work requires frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movements. Must work in awkward positions and cramped areas. Frequently lifts and carries items up to 60 pounds and handles heavier objects.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • Operation is 7 days a week, schedule will be based on the needs of the activity. Subject to irregular tour of duty including, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Knowledge of operational and repair characteristics requirements for small gasoline engine powered equipment.
  • Ability to use of a variety of hand tools and equipment required in small engine repair work.
  • Ability to read manufacturer's manuals and to determine repair parts requirements.
  • Ability to complete such entries as issue and turn-in dates, item names and stock or part numbers on issue, and turn-in forms.


In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • 1 Year experience doing minor repair of small gasoline engine powered equipment.
  • 1 Year experience working with a variety of hand tools.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
