You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Commander Navy Region, Commander Navy Installation Command of NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND.
Current permanent employees of DoD and DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Preference eligibles and DoD Retained Grade Preference eligibles.
You will performs inspections as member of a team of higher graded specialists assigned to an office to determine compliance with safety and occupational health laws and regulations.
You will use safety and occupational health regulations, principles, or practices to evaluate operations against compliance standards.
You will advise personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes.
You will surveys and inspects material handling, storage, maintenance, transportation operations, and support facilities.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Performing inspections as member of a team of higher graded specialists assigned to an office to determine compliance with safety and occupational health laws and regulations; 2) Conducting verbal entrance and exit briefings with managers, supervisors, and work leaders prior to and after surveys and/or inspections to explain the purpose and scope of inspection and pertinent safety and occupational health regulations; 3) Surveying and/or inspects material handling, storage, maintenance, transportation operations, and support facilities for the purpose of determining adherence to established safety practices and program requirements. The performance of assigned duties requires frequent inspection and surveys of areas assigned requiring extensive walking, standing, bending, crouching, climbing, lifting, etc.
