The individual selected for this position will:

  • Be responsible for organizing, planning, and directing the processing activities within tight time, cost, and staff allocations and within established priorities; oversee system operations and monitor the status and progress on each of the systems to which assigned to ensure timely production, minimum risk of data loss due to malfunction, and efficient utilization of equipment;
  • Advise shift supervisor of personnel and material needs and problems, recommending changes in organization/workflow and modification of procedures to achieve quality, accelerated operations, eliminate staffing problems, or otherwise expedite the flow of the work;
  • Implement and ensure the accuracy of reporting systems devised to reflect cost and production;
  • Keep employees informed of management's goals and objectives, assure that the NPC safety program is implemented at the work site, and apply the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity in the area supervised.
  • Monitor the status and progress on each of the systems to which assigned to ensure timely production, minimum risk of data loss due to malfunction, and efficient utilization of equipment.

To qualify for the position of Work Unit Supervisor, at GS-0313-7, you must meet the minimum and/or basic qualification requirements listed below.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: experience in assignments in which you motivated, trained, and worked effectively with subordinate employees; planned and carried out work effectively; accomplished the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time; communicated effectively both in person and in writing; responded to and furthered management goals; and developed improvements in or designed new work methods and procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

SME Resume Review: You will be evaluated according to your responses to the online questionnaire and the use of a SME Resume Review. During the SME Resume Review, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will review your resume to determine your technical qualifications for this position based on the required specialized experience. Applicants passing the structured resume review will move on to the next phase of the process. Upon completion of the SME Resume Review, candidates identified as "best qualified" will be referred to the hiring manager and may be invited for an interview.

Category Rating Procedures: If you meet the minimum qualifications stated in the job opportunity announcement and scoring requirements for all applicable assessments, you will be placed in one of three pre-defined categories.
