Duties

Help
  • Operate electrical power source and distribution equipment.
  • Install, modify, inspect, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment associated with moderate and complex electrical systems
  • Install, modify, inspect, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair new and existing electrical lines, circuits, switch gears, systems, associated fixtures, controls, distribution panels, outlet boxes.
  • Install, modify, inspect, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair emergency generators airfield lighting system (0-2500 Volts), portable whacker lights, and electronic messenger safety boards.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift license within 180 days of employment.
  • This position may require the incumbent to respond to emergency calls after regular working hours.
  • This position is a designated drug testing position. The incumbent must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 600-85.
  • This position requires the incumbent to ensure that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE).
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.
  • Designated Mission Essential Position: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
  • This position requires 10% Temporary duty travel (TDY).
  • Incumbent must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A within one (1) year of appointment and maintain it through duration of appointment.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Powered Support Systems Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision; without more than normal supervision: perform pre-running inspections of component systems such as fuel lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and fuel injection; AND inspecting and maintaining electronics equipment associated with moderate and complex electrical systems.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments involve standing, climbing, bending, crouching, and occasionally working in cramped and awkward positions. Works at ground level and from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, manlifts, bucket trucks, and aerial lift trucks where parts of systems worked on are in hard to reach places. Frequently lifts and carry tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, employee lifts or moves with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee may work on different shift schedules. Work is performed both in and out of doors where there is regular exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, and bad weather. There is also exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, strains, electrical shock and burns, and is exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acids, fluids, and lubricants. Protective devices such as but not limited to ARC Flash PPE, earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirts with sleeves are worn.
