Duties

Help
  • Conducts general clerical duties and handles travel and time/attendance using Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS).
  • Conducts periodic office property inventory such as GSA vehicles and reports and provide administrative support in the development and implementation of programmatic initiatives and requirements.
  • Conducts file maintenance of physical files; establish, operate and maintain automated file systems (i.e. ORM); process a full range of documentation and reports for Regulatory actions.
  • Acquires and maintain supplies and equipment used by the Regulatory Branch; serves as the Government Purchase and Training Card holder.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact about the Corps’ regulatory requirements and status of specific files.
  • Receives permit applications, enforcement information and other permit actions; answer general questions regarding the program and application procedures; assign Action ID numbers.
  • Completes data entry using the OMBIL Regulatory Module (ORM) system to prepare and compile statistical reports; makes recommendations to the Branch Chief with respect to findings.
  • Responds to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and handle general permit authorizations as assigned.
  • Analyzes maps, aerial photographs, plans, designs, project descriptions, and other sources to confirm project location, dimensions, and suitability of the jurisdictional determination.
  • Documents jurisdictional determinations for projects on U.S. waterways including those that may qualify for authorization by a general permit.
  • Prepares monthly reports on mileage and usage of government vehicles and ensures office vehicle maintenance and repair schedules are adhered to.
  • Completes timekeeping and searching and compiling materials in response to Freedom of Information Act requests.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.
  • Must have a knowledge of office automation tools to perform word and data processing and gathering using the latest in office technology and automation equipment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires a financial disclosure upon entry and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Assisting with administrative tasks; AND
2) Completing data entry. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Coordinating a variety of administrative tasks; AND 2) Completing data entry and maintaining records and files; AND 3) Assisting with research. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Coordination of administrative tasks and use of office automation tools; AND 2) Researching and compiling data to prepare various reports and maintain records; AND 3) Assisting others in performing general analytical and technical tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-05: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-06 and GS-07 grades, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
