Duties

Help
  • Prepares limited breakfast foods that will involve grilling for frying.
  • Performs regular and modified salad preparation tasks such as making fruit and vegetable salads; cutting, scraping, chopping, dicing, and peeling fruits and vegetables.

  • Set up and replenish the salad bar in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform ingredient measurement tasks.
  • Weigh vegetables and fruit in accordance with instructions and directions provided.
  • Preform patient tray service duties to include the assembly of trays.
  • Arrange food items for regular and modified diets.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Required to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position has been designated as a Drug Testing Designated Position and is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing thereafter.
  • This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Cook~ without more than normal supervision. Such work includes a demonstrated experience performing regular and modified salad preparation tasks; preparing service stands; collecting and removing used dishes and utensils to dishwashing area; preparing sandwich items for the short order line. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • The work involves light to moderate physical effort with frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 30 pounds. There is constant standing and walking, bending and stooping, and occasional lifting up to 45 pounds.
  • Working areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Incumbent is exposed to minor cuts, burns, bruises, and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from mopping and spilled liquids. Incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures of heat and cold from the hot kitchen to the refrigerated areas.
