Help

As a Interdisciplinary Physician Assistant or Nursing Practitioner, GS-0603/0610-12, you will use clinical skills and knowledge to complete comprehensive medical and physical assessments, and preventative medical services for assigned ANG personnel. Using professional knowledge of and skill in applying a wide range of Aerospace, Occupational and Preventative Medicine practices, principles and theories, the incumbent. Independently carries out assignments, coordinating with others as necessary and discussing scope of the assignment, approaches, timeframes, and execution phases with leadership; exercising good judgment in accordance with the methods and practices of the community health nursing and established medical/administrative policies affecting ANG readiness. Performs comprehensive medical assessments including, but not limited to, annual preventive health, pre- and post-deployment interviews, and deployment health assessments; pre-placement, occupational health, and separation health physical exams; fitness for duty evaluations; line of duty, and medical continuation determinations. Utilizes extended specialized training and experience to review, compare, and interpret complex medical standards, policies and laws and provide sound recommendations. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing DD Form 2992, "Medical Recommendations for Flying or Special / Operational Duty Log", summarizing findings and reporting to the Deployment Availability Working Group. Coordinates with inter-disciplinary teams to gather facts and uses effective analytical and evaluative methods to prepare healthcare recommendations of an advanced nature and considerable difficulty level. Utilizes knowledge of military medical organizational structure, policies and procedures to independently review records/referrals and recommend appropriate aeromedical and operational dispositions online of duty and medical continuation determinations; separation history and physical exams; incapacitation pay; convalescent leave; and the need for disability evaluation system processing. Conducts records review and face to face meetings relating to the Exceptional Family Member Program.

Qualifications

PURPOSE:The purpose of this position is to provide a fulltime, experienced Physician Assistant and/or Nursing (Practitioner) to support the planning, scheduling, execution, management, and administration of installation-wide medical management including, aerospace and operational disposition and clinical judgment for medical case management to promote and maintain the health and well-being of assigned Air National Guard (ANG) personnel.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current on-board (Tenure 1, 2 and 3) US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the Air Force meet our mission requirements as a, Physician Assistant and/or Nurse (Practitioner).

PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or the equivalent which provides knowledge and/or experience performing comprehensive medical and physical assessments of Air National Guard (ANG) personnel, including conducting full physical examinations; obtaining and evaluating medical histories (past medical/surgical, family, and social), medications, and immunizations; requesting, ordering, and interpreting laboratory and radiological studies related to Individual Medical Readiness (IMR), mobility, retention, and flying standards; coordinating consultations and discussing abnormal findings with treating providers; managing occupational and preventive medicine programs such as Fitness for Duty (FFD), Periodic Health Assessments (PHA), Web Health Assessments (WEBHA), Line of Duty (LOD) determinations, Medical Continuation (MEDCON), Incapacitation (INCAP) pay, Convalescent Leave (CONLV), Disability Evaluation System (DES), wing fitness programs, and Assignment Limitation Codes (ALC) and waiver processes; applying aerospace, occupational, and preventive medicine principles to support medical readiness; independently performing pre- and post-deployment assessments, occupational and separation physicals, and DD Form 2992 reviews; coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate complex medical standards and provide aeromedical and operational recommendations; conducting case management and medical record reviews, including Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) coordination; providing primary and preventive care in family medicine; supporting aerospace medicine programs such as force health protection, psychological health, occupational and environmental health, and deployment readiness; and delivering clinical expertise, consultation, and medical management to promote the health, readiness, and operational capability of ANG personnel.

Additional Conditions of Employment:
1. Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

2. This position is subject to Random Drug Testing.

3. This is an Inclement Weather position. Incumbent may be required to report for or remain on duty during inclement weather.

4. The work of this position may require rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call duty hours.

5. Temporary Duty Travel may be required.

6. Incumbent may be required to participate in contingency readiness exercises, major accident response exercises, and investigations.

7. Must be able to obtain and maintain privileging for the DOD/AFMS/ANGMS IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. Must maintain credentials requirements at all times (i.e. current and unrestricted state license, BLS, clinical competencies, etc.) IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. 6/14/2022 TCPC Cramner.

9. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel (NGB-J1).

Education

Must graduated from a physician assistant educational program and/or a Nursing (Practitioner) program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education, or its predecessors, at a college, university or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
