This National Guard position is for an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST -Title 5, Position Description Number T5003000 and is part of the WI CRTC, Wisconsin National Guard.
Serves as the Wing Information Protection Program Manager executing/enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program. Formulates wing program goals, plans, policy implementation guidelines, procedures, and work plans dealing with the development and operation of wing-wide information security programs and activities and provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate wing information security personnel.
Makes information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that may require deviations from or synthesis of policies. Uses initiative and resourcefulness in researching and implementing new and improved security methods and procedures.
Delivers, Security Awareness and Education Programs to satisfy security education and training requirements for all assigned organizations. Revises or augments training to support unique requirements.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs the overarching focus and direction of the organization.

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
The employee will be required to obtain and maintain a TS-SCI security clearance.
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), Security Program Integration Professional Certification (SPIPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel (NGB-J1)

May be subject to furlough actions.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare eligibility.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-0080-12 level you must have at least 12-months experience, education, or training equivalent to the next lower grade.
