Duties

Help
  • You will plan and design the layout of electrical/electronic components such as disconnects, fuse blocks, terminal boards, magnetic starters, hour meters, work lights, etc., to affect the proper operation of machines or systems.
  • You will perform maintenance and preventative and corrective, diagnose all problems related to machine tool malfunctions.
  • You will localize, isolate, repair and rebuild faulty systems as needed using latest trade journals, schematics, technical instructions, experience, testing equipment, electrical tools to repair or rewire systems associated with machine tools.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work aboard ships and submarines and within shops may require periods of standing, vertical climbing, stooping and moving in and out of areas of close confinement.
  • Light to moderate physical exertion will be required in lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • When heavier lifts cannot be avoided personnel are required to obtain assistance from other personnel and/or equipment to safely accomplish the lift.
  • Work aboard ships and submarines and within shops may lead to exposure to fumes, electrical shock, flying objects, excessive noise and other adverse environmental conditions.
  • May be required to work at various heights from ladders, scaffolding, buckets, etc. as well as in confined spaces such as trunks or tanks.
  • May be required to work on nuclear systems and participate in RADCON activities as deemed necessary to meet management needs.
  • Must also be able to maintain and IT-II designation

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PERFORM THE DUTIES WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION:

  • Serve as an Electrical Equipment Repairer responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, adjusting, and testing a wide variety of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical hand power tools and industrial equipment.
  • Must be a journeyman level electrician and have extensive knowledge of the National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, Joint Industry Council, and OSHA.
  • Plan and design for the layout of electrical components.
  • Perform maintenance preventive and corrective diagnoses related to machine tool malfunctions, electric, electronic pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical.
  • Perform verification test on electrical and electronic machinery to ensure proper safe operations
  • Possess knowledge of electrical components and systems of heavy equipment, electronic theory, and have the ability to interpret instructions, drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Plan and design the layout of facility type wiring.
  • use state-of-the-art test equipment to analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair rebuild electric/electronic drive systems.
