Duties

Help
  • Direct a wide spectrum of emergency services programs to ensure the integration of plans and operations across multiple functions.
  • Manage the depot's Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection programs by developing and integrating security measures based on comprehensive threat assessments
  • Develop long-range strategic plans to address mission changes and incorporate new technologies into force protection programs
  • Administer the directorate's annual budget to provide necessary training, equipment, and support for all emergency services divisions
  • Supervise the development and implementation of a comprehensive exercise program to test and improve the readiness of emergency response forces
  • Coordinate intelligence and security matters with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure a unified and comprehensive review of threats

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Requires the incumbent to obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification "Security Fundamentals Professional Certification” (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Must undergo pre-employment and recurring investigations to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass initial and periodic testing as required.
  • Requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing the following duties: 1) Administering security programs to include anti-terrorism, force protection, and emergency response; 2) Executing security policies and procedures; and 3) Providing leadership guidance, assigning work, providing evaluation support, direction, or training to personnel.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

Some Federal positions allow the substitution of education for experience. For this position, you must qualify based on experience alone.

Additional information

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
