About the position: This position is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) at Joint Base Andrews, MD.

Heavy physical effort is required in frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, and in using heavy handtools and operating equipment.

This is a flexible position with no benefits.

Duties

Help

Performs one or a combination of the following manual labor tasks: Perform general upkeep, landscaping, and cleaning of outdoor areas including FamCamp, Base Lake, and RV Storage Lots. Loads, unloads or relocates heavy or bulky items from receptacles, trucks and/or other carriers. Operates, controls, and cleans lawn equipment and other grounds maintenance equipment such as zero-turn mowers, backpack blowers, riding lawn mowers, and snow blowers. Uses heavy (not domestic type) power mowers; adjusts blades, and cleans and oils mowers; cuts trees, using pole saws. Handles general custodial tasks, including cleaning facilities and consistently emptying trash receptacles across all assigned locations. Conducts maintenance and repairs on buildings, exterior structures, and related fixtures to ensure safety and functionality. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Desired experience in performing general upkeep, landscaping, and custodial cleaning of large outdoor areas, such as parks, campgrounds, or storage facilities. Desired knowledge and skill in the safe and proficient operation of ground maintenance equipment, including commercial grade machinery such as zero turn mowers, lawn mowers, backpack blowers, snow blowers, etc. Desired experience in conducting minor repairs and preventative maintenance on buildings, fences, and other outdoor/indoor structures and fixtures.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

  • Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
