Duties

Help

Plans, organizes, and assists in the execution of special events, holiday parties, and recreational programming for youth and community members. Responsible for the opening and closing of the Youth Center and other recreational facilities. Serves as the primary point of contact for customer service-related incidents, addressing patron concerns, resolving conflicts, and escalating issues to the supervisor when necessary. Checks equipment and gear in and out; ensures all issued gear is returned, accounted for, and properly stored at the end of each shift. Operates and oversees laser tag and other special event equipment and activities. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of recreational areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. Inspects indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, equipment, and tools to verify general condition and safety compliance. Reports facility or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely manner. Conducts inventory of authorized recreational supplies and equipment on a recurring basis. Performs minimal administrative duties such as maintaining records, logs, and basic documentation related to facility operations. Assists with additional duties as assigned to support overall recreational operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have customer service experience. Ability to safeguard and handle cash is required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals or groups. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of maturity and good judgment, and enjoy working with children and parents. Experience must have demonstrated requirement for rigorous attention to detail. Practical knowledge of basic program, plans, and operation procedures of recreational activities is highly desirable. Skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
