This vacancy announcement is for a Dual-Status Technician position which requires active membership in the New Jersey National Guard (uniformed military service). Official appointment is not effective until membership within the New Jersey National Guard is confirmed by the gaining Human Resources Office.

Duties

As an PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (AIRCRAFT), GS-1152-9, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with directives, regulations, reports, and operationally specific publications
  • Provide specialized technical expertise on all aspects of the accepted system of record for the Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System and is responsible for all aspects of training
  • Implements preliminary (advance) maintenance plans for assigned weapon systems and schedules immediate maintenance for transient aircraft.
  • Deconflicts air mobility operations
  • Improve training materials by ensuring each is accurate within the guidelines of current directives, instructions and procedures
  • Ensure training is in compliance with directives, regulations, reports, and operationally specific publications.
  • Work independently or as part of a staff Air Mobility Division team to provide expert technical support, information, and assistance for mission planning and employment
  • Monitors progress of job completion by dispatched personnel.
  • Maintains visual aids depicting status of maintenance actions in progress, special ist availability and status of aerospace vehicles, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), training equipment, transportation and tow vehicles, munitions loads, arming of guns and munitions, and location of aircraft and dispatched AGE.
  • Requests necessary support services such as fire fighting activity standby, fuel and defuel and civil engineer support.
  • Makes required inputs to the automated data system and retrieves data and/or computer generated products as required.
  • Conducts training of assigned military personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

*Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)

You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.

Additional Requirements:
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service

Qualifications

General Experience:
Must have experience, education, or training in the following:

  • Reasoning in quantitative terms
  • Communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Understand the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity
Specialized Experience:
Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training in the following:
  • Working with people from various levels and backgrounds
  • General knowledge of functions and procedures of:
    • Production control
    • Records
    • References
  • Techniques for developing production control data
  • Assisting and maintaining workflow
