Duties

Help
  • As a Welder, you will perform the following duties which is not all inclusive list:
  • Performs layouts, planning, and executes repairs on structures such as gates, doors, and shelving.
  • Completes prep, fit-up, and welding on process pipes, valves, vessels, and fittings.
  • Works on systems including: Medium temperature (heating) systems, Chilled water (cooling) systems, Domestic hot water systems, Compressed air systems.
  • Uses flame or electrical equipment to perform stick, TIG, and MIG welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Operates a motor vehicle to transport equipment and supplies to job sites.
  • Performs work both at a bench and onsite in industrial environments.
  • Works in difficult-to-reach positions, including overhead and confined spaces.
  • Supports maintenance of critical piping systems, especially heating and cooling infrastructure.
  • Helps prevent delays and downtime by reducing the need to outsource repairs.
  • Reduces workload on engineering and contracting teams by maintaining in-house repair capabilities

  • Welder certification from a nationally accredited test center with a test coupon type of 6G.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Welder ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks including those of a welder such as: operating welding machines or manually welding piping, boilers, pressure vessels, castings, forgings, equipment, or structures, using gas or arc welding processes on recently developed or experimental metals and alloys. I have performed some related functions such as: flame and arc cutting. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORTS: The effort required by this job is the same as that which is depicted in the standard as typical of all grade levels of the welding trade.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: These are similar in this job to those described in the standard as typical for welding at all grade levels.
