Duties

Help
  • Supervises two Civilian Police Desk Sergeants, four military Desk Sergeants and the operations of the Military Police Desk.
  • Plans work assignments and schedules personnel to assure successful accomplishment of assigned missions and responsibilities.
  • Advises and instructs employees concerning work and administrative related matters. Informs supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increase in workload or other circumstances to obtain replacements, temporary help or additional staff.
  • Protection functions, law enforcement duties, accident investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, evidence gathering, bike patrol, and community policing.

  • Certify as (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System) and NCIC (National Crime Information Center) terminal operator

  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing law enforcement operations by providing direct tactical guidance to subordinate officers during daily patrols; conducting on-the-job training for patrol officers in specific job techniques to ensure compliance with departmental standards; establishing incident command during critical events by employing National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols to contain incidents; preparing detailed law enforcement reports using web-based programs to ensure accurate documentation of all incidents.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
