Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will receive formal and/or on-the-job training, as needed. Duties include:

  • Planning, implementing and administrating the full spectrum of budget and financial management activities for the district, including Program Administration, Management Advisory Services, and Internal Controls and Audits.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial management program that involves both short and long-range programmatic plans and the annual budget as a key segment of those plans.
  • Advising on programmatic effectiveness relative to planned financial objectives.
  • Providing technical guidance, advice, and assistance to the Administrative Officer and U.S. Attorney in the identification of future resource requirements, and in the planning and development of future budget requirements.
  • Managing the certification of obligations for the district.
  • Ensuring all financial records, i.e., obligations, expenditures, delivery status and available balances, are accurate and supported with proper fund control documentation.
  • Overseeing the processing of travel authorizations and travel vouchers/claims.
  • Reviews invoices for proper payment eligibility and issues payments within proper timeframes.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet the following conditions, as defined below:

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.

Specialized experience is defined as experience developing, implementing and/or maintaining a comprehensive financial management system; providing financial and managerial data to control budget execution in achieving short and long-range management plans; advising management team on recommendations and/or alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations and program accomplishments; reviewing and analyzing past obligations, determining reasonable fund levels and evaluating validity of request; and providing a wide variety of budget reporting, including monthly financial and quarterly reports.
