OFPM is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor (Electric) to ensure reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure supporting NIST's research mission. Duties

Help

As a working Supervisor, the employee must have comprehensive knowledge of NIST's electrical systems, as well as elevator and mechanical hoisting equipment, and be proficient in their repair and maintenance.

In this position, the employee will:
- Review and prioritize work assignments (e.g., M Slips, Work Orders, preventive maintenance instructions) to determine scope, complexity, and resource needs.
- Coordinate and assign work to personnel, ensuring alignment with other ongoing projects and shop activities.
- Consult with the General Foreman's Office or Operations Engineering Group to resolve unforeseen issues, errors, or changing requirements.
- Conduct site visits to assess job conditions, determine appropriate work methods, and develop special instructions as needed.
- Coordinate Electric Shop activities with other trades to support efficient, multi-craft project execution.
- Ensure timely execution and follow-up of both major and minor work assignments.
- Exercise sound judgment in emergency situations to support safe and effective response actions.

Qualifications

There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education, and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to lead or supervise employees in an electrical shop environment. This includes planning, assigning, and reviewing work; ensuring safe, efficient, and code-compliant operations; and carrying out supervisory responsibilities such as training, evaluating performance, and addressing employee conduct.There is no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform the duties, as described in this announcement, screen out element(i.e. without more than normal supervision).
