Duties

Help

  • Inspects base warehouse activities. Ensures the care and preservation of supplies in storage according to Air Force, Department of Defense, and federal requirements.
  • Inspects activities involved in receiving, examining, verifying, and identifying complex categories of materials and equipment, including hazardous materials (i.e., toxic, radioactive, perishable, classified materials, high valued equipment, precious/strategic metals, and complex electronic or mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components).
  • Inspects complex disposal tasks, such as those required in dealing with reuse, salvage, and sales preparation of a wide variety of complex items and materials.
  • Monitors special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records. Monitors the Repair Cycle, Time Change, and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) programs.

  • Position requires exposure to and handling of hazardous materials; employee may be required to attend various training and refresher classed in the handling, storage, and tracking of hazardous materials.
  • May be required to complete Nuclear War Reserve Material (NWMR) Fundamental training course annually or as required by AFI 20-110, Ch 9.
  • As required, train and/or guide Asset Management Section or Distribution Flight personnel, as well as supported bases and GSUs, on inspection criteria.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions, Distribution Facilities and Storage 2030.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include knowledge of general federal acquisition programs, supply programs, inventory management supplies management, storage and distribution, supplies fuels management, munitions management, skill in use of technical orders, stock lists, cataloging data systems, federal and military supply standards and specifications. Knowledge of policies and procedures for requisitioning and issuing equipment, supplies, packing, cleaning, preservation, containers, environmental controls, marking and labeling, distribution facilities and storage management functions and techniques, knowledge of warehousing and disposal procedures and plans. Knowledge of supply structure, supply codes, and organizational interfaces both internal and external, and the ability to update procedures and use automated supply systems and data bases. Knowledge of quality assurance and inspection practices, procedures, and principles related to a wide range of materials, complete equipment items, technical components, parts and commodities, ability to analyze problems and to develop timely and economical solutions to problems encountered. Knowledge of the identification, storage, handling, and reporting procedures of controlled and hazardous material, to include Nuclear Weapons Related Materiel. Knowledge of policies, methods and procedures for material identification, type classification, serviceability, and approval for use; knowledge of procedures, supply catalogs, technical manuals, and equipment drawings required for product and equipment verification.

Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

AcqDemo Expanded Probationary Period for Supervisors and Managers: An additional supervisory probationary period of one year may be required when an employee is officially assigned to a different supervisory position.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NH-02 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-11.

Salary Range: This is an NH-02 position with full salary potential within that band, however the initial salary range offered for this position will be $41,811.00 to $99,650.00 which includes locality pay percentage, unless statutory or regulatory rules prevail. Follow on salary increases based on contribution MAY be earned within the full salary of the NH-02 pay band.
