Duties

Help

This position is located in the Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Inspector General, Office of Mission Support, Budget Directorate, located in Washington, DC. The Budget Directorate supports budget formulation and execution, planning and policy, and facilities management.

The incumbent serves as the Budget Director and will:

  • Oversee the planning, management, accounting, and reporting on the use of OIG resources;
  • Manage the full range of activities associated with the development of the OIG annual budget;
  • Manages development of budget schedules, narratives and exhibits required by the Agency, OMB, and Congress to support OIG resource requests in support of the OIG and Agency Strategic and Annual Goals;
  • Ensure the preparation of comprehensive budget briefing materials, summaries, and analyses; and
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to top agency management officials on the planning and control of OIG funds.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Upon appointment, you may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450. You will need to provide the information annually.  

Depending on your status, this position may require serving a 1-year probationary period.

Qualifications

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

GS-15: 1) Experience in supervising the work of subordinate staff and/or directing the work of team members or contractors; 2) Providing oversight of all activities associated with formulating and executing an organization's budget ensuring there is adequate resources for accomplishment of mission goals and objectives; 3) Developing financial reports, documents, presentations, or briefing materials in order to communicate financial issues or concerns and solutions to management; and 4) Continuously improving budget related processes associated with the budget community to include organizational, technological, or functional areas.

Evidence of the above specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held.
