Duties

Help

  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the organization (ECC), compiles with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
  • Evaluates reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses.
  • Receives, processes, dispatches and performs follow-on communication until resolution of emergency and non-emergency situations when required.
  • Performs Dispatch Life Support (DLS) using Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) service to callers with medical emergencies.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administration Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NK-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-7 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is described as operating a communication radio to monitor communications traffic between numerous agencies, law enforcement agencies, and fire departments; and the ability to dispatch and schedule specialist rules, concepts, techniques, and procedures. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Ideal Candidate: Possess all required qualifications/requirements. (Hazardous Materials Awarnes, Telecommunicator I and II certifications).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of NFPA 1061, Standard for Public Safety Telecommunications Personnel Professional Qualifications; NFPA 1221, Standard for the Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems.
2. Knowledge of the incident command system (ICS),National Incident Management System (NIMS), AF Incident Management System (AFIMS), normal and emergency airfield operations, common operating picture, and functions of emergency operations center.
3. Skills in effective written and oral communications.
4. Skills in use of standard emergency communications systems and information management systems.
5. Ability to think logically and transmit information under the stress of emergency operations.
6. Ability to provide supervision and leadership and integrate the actions of a team under emergency conditions.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

AcqDemo Expanded Probationary Period for Supervisors and Managers: An additional supervisory probationary period of one year may be required when an employee is officially assigned to a different supervisory position.
