Duties

Help
  • Develops long range, multi-year work plans for operation, maintenance, and repair of Medical Facilities to enhance achievement of organizational goals and objectives
  • Determines repair projects and annual work plan scope of work considering operability, adaptability, ease and cost of maintenance, regulatory requirements, and patient care mission needs for all facilities maintenance work in a Medical Facility.
  • Serves as resident technical expert on policy, regulatory matters, operations and maintenance pertaining to medical and dental health care facilities.
  • Exercises direct and indirect supervision over in house staff and maintenance contractor which consists of a wide range of skilled trades and technical support including mechanical, electrical, and electronic skills in a Medical Facility.
  • Develops funding and budget requirements for the maintenance and operations portion of the Facilities Management Branch for support to MEDDAC, DENTAC and VETCOM Medical Facilities

  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
  • This position is designated as Key. For positions located within the Continental US (CONUS), the position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating complex projects to maintain patient care buildings; overseeing facility management service contracts and financial programs; and implementing or evaluating programs to manage safety risks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
