The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) Mission Delta 9 (MD9) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for a Delta Government SAP Security Officer (NH-0080-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Description:
Mission Delta 9 is actively seeking an individual with a solid, working knowledge of various security programs, including Special Access Program (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security procedures, who can thrive within a fast-paced, fluid team environment. This role is crucial to the Delta's mission to prepare, present, and project assigned and attached forces, enabling the conduct of protect and defend operations and providing national decision authorities with response options to deter and, when necessary, defeat orbital threats.

The ideal candidate will possess a wide-ranging knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices, enabling them to independently review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. This individual must also demonstrate skill in planning, developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to effectively meet mission requirements and continuously improve the overall security posture.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.
2. Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.
3. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
4. Knowledge of required Security Special Access Program (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security procedures.
5. Skill in planning, developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Employee is in a designated position that requires consent and thereafter be subject to and successfully complete, an initial, periodic and random counterintelligence (CI)-scope polygraph examination as a condition of employment.
  • Polygraph examinations are considered current when administered within the past five years.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) required.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • This position has been locally, or command designated as Mission Essential (ME).
  • Security Cooperation Foundational Proficiency Level: Incumbent must attain DoW Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification and complete related continuous learning requirements in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • Incentive is not authorized.
