Duties

Help

This position is located in the Military Personnel Office (MILPO), Plans and Actions Branch of the Army National Guard. The purpose of this position is to supervise two or more of the following programs: education, incentives, testing, and guidance. The position serves as the principal advisor and consultant within the State and has primary responsibility for the development, management, and administration of the aforementioned programs through budget management, personnel supervision, program management, policy development, and advisory services.

  1. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of assigned program areas, ensuring that legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  2. Develops goals and objectives that align organization and military human resources objectives and establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of the same.
  3. Coordinates, plans, and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate.
  4. Ensures that leadership is in compliance with statutory and regulatory guidance to maximize program effectiveness.
  5. Implements program policy from NGB in accordance with State's strategic objectives.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

  • The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program and Veterans Preference.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for a state emergency or disaster declaration which will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

Qualifications

Area II: Current Competitive and Excepted Federal employees nationwide and individuals eligible for veterans' preference.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Administer, supervise, promote, coordinate, conduct and evaluate programs, activities, and opportunities designed to provide individualized career or self development education plans.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience in managing the function of work to be performed. Experience that includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Education

There are no specific educational requirements for this position. However, substitution of Education for Specialized Experience is allowed.

  • If you are currently serving on active duty and expect to be released or discharged within 120 days you must submit documentation related to your active-duty service which reflects the dates of service, character of service (honorable, general, etc.), and dates of impending separation.
