Duties

Help

Under supervision of the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Director, assists in the planning, implementation, development, coordination, and administration of the military outdoor recreation program serving active-duty military, reserve forces, authorized civilian employees, and family members. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the JBLE Bethel Park and FAMCAMP programs, to include, but not limited to, programs, facilities, equipment, supplies, resale operations, grounds and maintenance. This includes FAMCAMP reservations and parking, fishing/boating programs, pavilion usage, playground equipment safety, and paintball contract oversight. Oversees and enforces safety, health, and hazardous material handling, and physical security requirements. Front line customer service, receiving and resolving customer complaints and requests for special services. Provides guidance to park patrons regarding facility usage and requirements. Operates computers and cash registers, making pricing adjustments, as necessary. Maintains cash accountability, financial and customer usage data. Plans and directs the operation of sales activity, displays, prices and merchandise. Performs full scope of supervisory responsibilities to subordinate staff to include, but not limited to, hires, conducts appraisals, promotes, motivates, disciplines, scheduling and payroll, assigns work and separates employees. Trains, orients, and arranges training by appropriate agencies for all assigned employees and volunteers. Keeps supervisor apprised of program plans, customer incentives, entertainment and marketing. Coordinates policy changes prior to implementation. Recommends improvements and repairs, as necessary, submitting work orders through appropriate channels. Assists ODR director with RV storage/other outdoor recreation activities, as required. Works indoors and outdoors; is required to handle/lift materials/equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Required to drive government vehicles in the course of daily duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Experience which has provided a general familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in an Outdoor Recreation program is required. Experience in cash control and accountability is required. Must possess good communication/customer service skills. The ability to supervise personnel and direct programming. Must have general working knowledge of federal safety guidelines. Working experience or practical knowledge of boating/recreational equipment, rules and procedures which provided the incumbent the ability to perform the duties as described. Must have skills and knowledge needed to perform the required computer functions. Inventory experience is desirable.

Must be at least 18 years of age. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers' license. Incumbent must be able to work other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required. "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use."
