  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a mission essential position and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage in the evenings, weekends, holidays and other situations.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Must undergo pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter as this is testing designated position (TDP).
  • Occasional traveling may be require to attend workshops, training, or seminars.
  • Must pass periodic medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc.).
  • Must successfully complete periodic physical ability test requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must meet all mandatory requirements of AR 190-56.
  • Required to meet proficiency requirements in specialized weapons and unarmed self-defense.
  • Must be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants.
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid.
  • Must maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position requires work call backs and/or emergency overtime when required.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer such as protective clothing or gear such as chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing the following duties 1) Instructing security personnel on specific access control operational tasks and job techniques; 2) Reviewing identification cards, badges or passes to allow access to a secured area; 3) Protecting the health, safety, privacy or best interest of the public, staff or others who may be at risk; and 4) Preparing daily reports, journals, logs or records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
