Help

The primary duties of the position is to serve as the Senior Medical Officer for the entire installation, including tenant unit(s) and Geographically Separated Units (GSU) with responsibility for directing and managing all medical administrative functions including medical support, medical operations, force health management, force health protection, healthcare management, and related health applications. Serves as a fulltime partner with the Wing Commander, Squadron Commanders, Senior Management Staff, tenant unit(s) and GSU Commander(s) in planning, implementing, and executing medical programs directly associated with the objectives of the Wing(s), State Headquarters, and Air National Guard / Surgeon General (ANG/SG). The incumbent may function as the Medical Group Commander.

Qualifications

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is a Title 32 INDEFINITE excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership in the military grade/rank listed in the announcement. Military Grades: 03 to 05

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (GS-12) Must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11). Experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.

It is not necessary for applicants to possess the MOS/AFSC listed as compatible to the position in order to apply, however applicant must meet the qualifications for the position. It is applicant's responsibility to acquire a compatible MOS/AFSC within 1 year of appointment. Coordinate with your unit's training representative to determine whether or not you can qualify for a specific MOS/AFSC and/or receive training within the 1 year timeframe before accepting the position.

Air National Guard Units

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 INDEFINITE EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This is an Indefinite/Temporary appointment, with a time limit determined by the needs f the agency. Current technicians selected will retain the appointment status they are currently in, (i.e., Permanent or Indefinite) and will be placed on a temporary promotion or other appropriate personnel action if selected for this position. Individuals from Areas II and III will be appointed indefinite status. Conversion to permanent status may be accomplished when permanent funding is available.

Areas of Consideration: 1,2,3

Area 1 - Permanent or indefinite Military Technicians (Army and Air) currently employed with the NHNG. This includes NHNG AGR's who are covered under the Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and have rights back to a Military Technician position.

Area 2 - AGRs, Temporary Military Technicians, traditional/M-Day Soldiers and Airmen currently serving in the NHNG.

Area 3 - All individuals eligible for immediate military membership in the New Hampshire National Guard (Army or Air, depending on compatibility) as a military member in the grade/rank listed in this announcement.

Selected applicant may be required to serve a one or two year trial period and then convert to permanent status IAW applicable laws and OPM guidelines.

This position is located in the Medical Group at an Air National Guard Wing.
