Duties

Help
  • Provide guidance, recommendations, and assistance to Commanders, supervisors and employees concerning security systems, physical protection devices, Visitor Control Center, and personnel access controls.
  • Perform as Physical Security Supervisor for an IMCOM Installation and is responsible for physical security plans, procedures and inspections as well as key control.
  • Prepare clear and concise evaluation reports substantiating findings and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Conduct physical security site-surveys to determine and identify state-of-the-art electronic Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and components, and technical security equipment required for the protection of US Army Assets.
  • Responsible for Installation Access Control policies and procedures and maintain operational command over the Security Guards.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPED Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
  • This is a mission essential position.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40-45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • SPeD certifications are required with the requirement to complete one per year each consecutive year thereafter in the order mandated by the SPeD certification sequence and/or as mandated by the position supervisor and/or organization leadership.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized expereince requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes: Conducting periodic physical security checks to ensure the command is compliant with regulations. Implementing policies, directives and coordinates with headquarters. Preparing operational directives and reports related to security activities. Conducting inspections, surveys, and risk analysis to identify vulnerabilities to the command.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
