Help

This position is located with the Combined Surface Maintenance Shop (CSMS) located in Phoenix, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to perform field and limited sustainment maintenance and repair on a variety of complex electronics equipment and complete operational systems.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the CSMS.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current unrestricted, excluding glasses, state and military driver’s license.
  • Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Must possess and maintain access to the Arizona Army National Guard computer network (NIPR) and required systems.

Military Grades:

Enlisted: E-3/PFC to E-8/1SG/MSG
Warrant Officer Candidate: WOC
Warrant Officer: W-1 to W-2

Compatible Military Assignments:

Enlisted: 13D, 13M, 13P, 13R, 14E, 14T, 14Z, 15E. 17E, 35T, 91A, 91F, 91G, 91H, 91M, 91P, 91S, 91X, 91Z, 25 or 94 Series MOS
Warrant Officer Candidate: 09W
Warrant Officer: 14, 25, 29, 91, or 94 series MOS


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

WG-10: Must possess at least 18 months of Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

WG-11: Must possess at least 24 months of Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles such as circuit elements, digital logic, microprocessors, core memory, interface circuits, digital data transmission, microwave, antennas, signal behavior, amplification, and display.

2. Ability to troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain complex electronic systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual circuits. Skill in developing new test and repair procedures for which none exist, and when possible improving existing procedures.

3. Ability to understand the interaction of a number of complex, interrelated circuits to determine the cause of a malfunction and the interaction of various factors.

4. Knowledge of electromechanical servo systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical and electric motor systems and their effect on each other.

5. Skill in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the systems from schematic, following signal paths through a complex path of interconnections of components, assemblies, and connecting cable harnesses.

6. Knowledge and skill to modify systems by adding, altering, or removing components in order to standardize or alter the purpose of equipment to incorporate new features developed since the equipment was manufactured.
