Duties

Help
  • Perform repairs, overhaul, troubleshoot and testing of medical equipment and any peripheral devices.
  • Ensure equipment is compliant with the most stringent standard, manufacturer’s literature, or regulatory guidance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services inspections of medical equipment.
  • Install general medical equipment, to include complex medical and peripheral devices.
  • Conduct testing to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards.
  • Ensure that hardware and software are functioning properly and that operating standards are met.
  • Review, evaluate, and fine tune components to achieve peak efficiency within the overall network.

  • This position may require the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 25% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes installing, maintaining, and/or repairing medical equipment and/or systems; operating test, measurement, and/or diagnostic equipment to test and/or calibrate medical equipment and/or systems; and conducting preventative maintenance checks on medical equipment and/or systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
