The Supervisory Printing Specialist position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Department of Administrative Services, Facilities and Security Office (FSO), AO Administrative Services Division (ADM). FSO is responsible for the management, oversight, and support of security, emergency preparedness, and space and facilities programs, and various administrative services within the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building for the courts and other judiciary offices.

Help

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Facilities and Security Office, AO Administrative Services Division, Printing and Distribution Branch is seeking a self-motivated Supervisory Printing Specialist to serve as a Branch Chief and Printing Officer. This position reports to the AO Administrative Services Division Chief.

The Supervisory Printing Specialist oversees the AO's printing and distribution programs and advises management on printing and binding guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulations.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Managing non-IT government personal property administration.
  2. Serving as the judiciary's printing officer and managing a contractor supporting the printing officer duties.
  3. Advising management on printing and binding regulations in accordance with the Government Printing Office (GPO), judiciary policies governing printing and reproduction, and monitoring expenditure of appropriated funds.
  4. Managing and overseeing publication, printing, distribution, and mail services for the AO and U.S. courts.
  5. Establishing printing schedules and liaising with the GPO, contract printers, graphic design vendors, and in-house printing and distribution facilities.
  6. Developing recommendations and long-range requirements for process improvement.
  7. Maintaining budget records and using appropriate budget object code to obligate funding.
  8. Providing technical advice on printing, size, ink colors, binding, paper, etc.

  7. If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.

Qualifications

Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience must demonstrate experience in ALL areas defined below:

  • Managing government personal property.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to management officials on printing guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Researching and analyzing uncommon administrative issues, problems, or program requirements and providing recommendations for improvement.
