The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida is searching for an Information Systems Security Officer (NH-0080-02, GS 05/11 equivalent).

Description:
As our Information Security and Systems Specialist, you will be the driving force behind the security and integrity of our critical systems. You won't just maintain the status quo; you will actively own and enforce all aspects of our information security program, ensuring mission assurance from the ground up. In this hands-on role, you will architect, deploy, and manage the essential software and hardware that form the backbone of our operations, safeguarding our capabilities and enabling mission success.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned security professional with a proven track record of leading comprehensive security programs. You are an expert who not only understands but can master the complex intersection of cybersecurity, Information Technology (IT), and special security. Your primary focus will be to own and enhance the complete security posture for the Delta, proactively managing risks and ensuring the integrity of all mission-critical systems and information.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of information, industrial, and personnel security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas as well as train and assist personnel and overall security operating programs.
2. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
3. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance.
4. Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions.
5. Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, meet deadlines and establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • PCS is not authorized. Incentive is not authorized.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access.
  • Department of War Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 30 days per year.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
