The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB Colorado Springs CO is searching for a COMSEC Accountant to support 21 CS (NH-2210-02, GS-05/11 Equivalent).

Description:
Assists the COMSEC Manager for all cryptographic activities including managing the Cryptographic Access Program (CAP), maintaining sensitive cryptographic materiel/equipment, and related COMSEC information.? Manages requests, account for Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI) as well as keying materiel, issuing materiel to support daily operations, and the proper destruction of COMSEC materiel.? Manages the CAP by conducting required briefings/training for users, and reviewing required documents utilized for granting access to cryptographic resources.? Establish investigation procedures and take immediate action on reporting security issues involving COMSEC assets.? Effectively communicates (orally and written) with COMSEC and Secure Voice Responsible Officers (CRO/SVRO) relaying and ensuring concise instruction/direction to adhere to COMSEC policies and procedures.? Provides continuous COMSEC support, guidance, and resolution of issues involving a variety of cryptographic hardware/software and equipment utilized in secure communication circuits, data, voice, and facsimile systems and networks.? Conduct and document semi-annual assessments and inventories in accordance with DAFMAN 17-1302-O.? Disseminates directives from the National Security Agency and HHQ for HAIPE device compliance, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of vital national information systems. Manages sub-account updates to SIPR ITAC/SIPR Envision to verify that in-line encryptors are updated with current software versions.

Ideal Candidate:
Must possess an ACTIVE Top Secret clearance. Current Security plus certification is required. COMSEC experience required! Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) course completion preferred but not required at this time.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of COMSEC security principles, concepts, practices, systems software and database software. Knowledge of the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) program and Management Client (MGC) node.
2. Knowledge of information technology and telecommunication security principles, policies, products, services to assess risk factors and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g. destructive programs/ applications/viruses, unauthorized access, disruption of services, espionage) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
3. Knowledge of transmission security protocols and techniques for protecting telecommunication systems from tampering and unauthorized system entry. Knowledge of commonly applied telecommunications principles, concepts, and methodologies, operation characteristics and capabilities of systems, media, equipment, and related software systems, processes and procedures to assess the efficiency of operations and make recommendations involving equipment and system integrity.
4. Ability to develop and conduct training on information technology and communications security.
5. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
6. Ability to plan, organize and direct staff efforts, to include contractors. Must be able to manage multiple resources to achieve goals and objectives through action plans. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to communications management and configuration control in communications-computer systems. Ability to gather facts and use effective, analytical, and evaluative methods to accurately assess information and make sound decisions.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
  • PCS / Incentive funding is not authorized.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 10 days per year.
  • This is a cybersecurity position; the employee will attain appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certificate(s) applicable for cybersecurity functions required for the DoD position held.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
