Select, sets up, adjusts, and operates ultrasound equipment.
Perform pre-procedure planning with Radiologist.
Provide training to staff and civilian and military personnel in ultrasound principles, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.
Instruct active-duty ultrasound patients on how to perform all aspects of ultrasonic imaging.
Conduct examination, adjusting technical factors and sonographic parameters to optimize image quality to best present the medically significant aspects found.
Gather appropriate supplies and equipment required for the procedure using aseptic techniques to prepare the procedure tray.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing variety of ultrasound examination on patients; maintaining ultrasound diagnostic equipment, and/or assisting Radiologist or Physicians with pre-procedure and post-procedure planning. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
