Duties

Help
  • Conduct investigations to apprehend individuals suspected of committing crimes.
  • Collect evidence in responds of investigated scenes for legal proceedings.
  • Serve as Point of Contact for civil law enforcement military and civilian personnel.
  • Responsible to testify as required in Military, Federal and State hearing.
  • Maintain sensitive areas, material or items that are potential targets of criminal activity.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must qualify and remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP), IAW AR 190-56.
  • Must pass initial drug test and subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends, as required.
  • Must pass initial and semi-annual weapons qualifications.
  • Must pass initial and annual medical examination, emotional and mental stability which includes physical agility/ability test, IAW AR 190-56.
  • Must complete initial and annual CPR and First-Aid requirements.
  • Must meet annual training, re-certification and mandatory requirements of AR 190-56.
  • Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued motor vehicle license (loss of license may result in removal from the position).
  • This position is Mission Essential.
  • Must wear the prescribed uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene.
  • Must be able to wear chemical-protection equipment, as required.
  • Must successfully complete law enforcement training.
  • Must successfully graduate from the Military Police Investigators (MPI) Course.
  • Must successfully complete the Department of Army Civilian Police Academy.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing the full range of investigative duties such as detecting and investigating crime scenes, completing investigation reports, interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects and obtaining warrants. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
