The United States Space Force (USSF) at NBVC Point Mugu, CA is searching for an Operations Support Director to support 10 SOPS (NH-0301-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

Description:
The United States Space Force (USSF) 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS) is searching for a visionary Operations Support Director to lead a vital Mission Support Element team at NBVC Point Mugu, CA. This is more than a management role; it is an impactful leadership position at the heart of our operations, ensuring the seamless execution of vital national security space missions.

Your Mission
As the Operations Support Director, you will be part of the strategic force behind our mission's success. You will have oversight of a diverse portfolio, including:

Financial & Resource Management: Command the budget and resource allocation, ensuring fiscal integrity and optimal use of assets.

Infrastructure & Facilities: Oversee the command's physical infrastructure, guaranteeing a secure and operational environment.

Personnel & Administration: Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and managing all administrative functions.

Security Operations: Uphold and advance our physical security protocols to safeguard personnel and mission-critical assets.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with extensive experience from a career within the Department of Defense (as a senior NCO, officer, or civilian). A strong foundation in an operational or mission support role is essential, along with a sophisticated understanding of both squadron-level and higher-headquarters dynamics. Candidates must have demonstrable experience serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership across a broad spectrum of mission support functions. A relevant college degree (e.g., Business, Management, Public Administration) is preferred, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered beneficial.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, and other agencies.
2. Knowledge of a human resources programs, basic facility operations, finance, contracts, procurement, security programs, and administrative tasks.
3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions, as well as mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
6. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • PCS and Incentives funding is not available.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 10 days per year.
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
