Duties

Help
  • Provide criminal intelligence analysis of activities detrimental to the security, good order, or discipline of the USDB and Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility (MWJRCF).
  • Gather, process, and disseminate intelligence information to support command, law enforcement, and correctional operations.
  • Review all intelligence information gathered from the USDB and MWJRCF MPI Offices to consolidate into the Criminal Information Report (CIR).
  • Serve as the technical advisor (TA) for all physical security aspects within the Army Corrections Command.
  • Provide expert guidance on a range of advanced security technologies, including MPI software.
  • Provide recommendations in the development and revision of physical security policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the Military Police Investigations (MPI) section operations.

  • This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station. Employee is subject to some evening work.
  • IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
  • This position requires the employee to undergo testing for tuberculosis prior to entry on duty and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the employee to complete the ACC Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff /inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
  • The incumbent will comply with the strict provisions as established by ACC policy and local facility/activity policy on staff standards of conduct.
  • All ACC employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle.
  • All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
  • Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement off icers from employment as law enforcement off icers if they are convicted of a felony.
  • Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.07 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • A Secret Security Clearance is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience: Experience must be directly related that includes substantial involvement with a correctional program and provides a thorough knowledge of correctional techniques, or experience in meeting and dealing with people and demonstrates the ability to work effectively with inmates and associates in a correctional environment. The experience must also demonstrate the ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties successfully. This includes (1) understanding the problems of custody, treatment, training, and release of inmates of penal or correctional institutions; (2) a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of an institution's internal policies, programs, regulations, and procedures; and (3) training subordinates, coordinating and directing activities and functions, evaluating performance of operations and the effectiveness of programs, and maintaining high standards or work objectives. This experience must have been gained in an administrative position, or in other positions that included the successful direction, or assistance in the direction of, an entire correctional program or a major phase of such a program.
Required qualifying specialized experience includes: (1) Gathering criminal intelligence information to consolidate into reports, (2) producing criminal intelligence summaries/investigative assessments to identifying inmates with the greatest likelihood to continue criminal activity and/or develop appropriate interdiction strategies and (3) advising on intelligence information such as police investigation related policies and procedures.

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as correctional administration, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
